H.E President inaugurates the 3rd Year of 17th Legislative Term of NA
The third year of the 17th legislative term of the National Assembly of Afghanistan was inaugurated by His Excellency President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on March 6, 2021.
In addition to His Excellency the President, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation, Vice Presidents, Hamdullah Mohib, National Security Advisor, Gul Badshah Majidi, State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, members of both houses of the National Assembly, Political figures and a number of other senior officials were also present.
At the beginning of the session, the Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga, Mr. Mir Rahman Rahmani, welcomed the participants and said that strong relations and better coordination between the three power branches is very important to strengthen the republican system and provide better services to Afghan people.
Afterwards, His Excellency President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in his speech said: "I am happy to once again address the representatives of the people from the microphone of the National Assembly and open the third year of the 17th legislative term of the National Assembly." He thanked the members of the Wolesi Jirga for approving the national budget and giving vote of confidence to most of the cabinet members.
In addition to praising the sacrifices made by the Afghan nation security and defense forces, the President spoke in detail about the ongoing peace process, the national, regional and international consensus on peace, and the recent escalation of violence by the Taliban. In his speech, the President said that with the commencement of the New Year, the plans of the eight major government programs would be shared with the members of the National Assembly and the 100-day, 100-news program would be begun with the inauguration of the Kamal Khan Dam.
