H.E. President M. Ashraf Ghani meets Speaker and Administrative Board of Senate
Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan held a meeting with Speaker and Administrative Board of Mashrano Jirga (Senate) at Presidential Palace.
During the meeting, State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Ziaulhaq Amarkhil appreciated the stance of Senate in supporting government, coordination and cooperation between the three forces and backing up on national issues and decisions. He said that he has been working closely with the Senate as instructed by Mr. President, to ensure equal respect for the Parliament and the Senate, prevent discrimination and resolve existing problems.
Afterwards, the Speaker of the Mashrano Jirga, Fazal Hadi Muslimyar, shared his suggestions on the general security situation, highways security, and the transparency of the budget allocated to fight coronavirus with the President. The Speaker of the Mashrano Jirga appreciated the efforts of the President in fighting corona pandemic and its consequent negative economic and social impacts. He reiterated that the Mashrano Jirga has its strong support and commitment with the government, its programs, policies and national interests.
Welcoming the Speaker and the Administrative Board of Mashrano Jirga, President Ghani said, "I hope you would have noticed that respect for the Mashrano Jirga is a part of our culture." He also instructed State Ministry for Parliamentary Affairs to formulate a written code of conduct for better coordination and cooperation in order to have much clear bilateral rules and regulations.
The President said that food prices had skyrocketed due to rumors in the early days of the Corona pandemic, but there is no shortage of food at the moment and for this I thank the Central Asian countries for their cooperation. He added that Torkham, Spin Boldak and Ghulam Khan Ports and air corridors have been opened for our exports and fruits.
The President said that necessary instructions have been issued to the security and defense authorities to ensure the security of the people; we will soon witness positive changes in this regard and will overcome the wave of insecurity. Referring to the escalation of violence by the Taliban, the president said that for lasting peace, the violence must end and inter-Afghan talks must begin soon.
Mohammad Ashraf Ghani prayed for the souls of those who lost their lives due to corona virus and offered his condolences to their bereaved families. He added that anyone who was negligent and corrupt in the budget allocated to fight corona virus would be dealt with legally.
